Our know-how
for your project

Our expertise at a glance

Optical Design

A team of four specialized optical designers is at your disposal with their comprehensive expertise to meet your customer-specific requirements. We have decades of specialized experience in the development of miniaturized optical systems and work with the OpticStudio (ZEMAX) optical design software, among others.

Mechanical Design

We develop design solutions according to customer requirements using the Autodesk Inventor program. Optical components are integrated directly into the surrounding mechanics. Our aim is to manufacture our products and all associated mechanical components for you in-house on our own machines. This allows us to work efficiently and take feedback into account immediately.

Mechanical Production

Our mechanical engineering staff have many years of expertise in micromechanical production. Almost all the necessary components and parts for your product are manufactured in-house on our three CNC machines. Our software creates a 3D model. This is translated into a data format that can be read by our CNC machines using our CAM interface. Our modern production facility acts as a link between development and production and produces prototypes, small and medium series. State-of-the-art measuring and testing technology ensures the consistently high quality of our products during production.

Ion Exchange

Ion exchange forms the basis of our key technology – the production of gradient index micro-optics or GRIN lenses. Our extensive and decades-long experience makes us the only supplier of this technology based on silver ion exchange worldwide. Ion exchange is used to create refractive index profiles in glass: glass rods or plates are processed into lens blanks in a diffusion process at 300-600 degrees Celsius in molten salt.

Precision Optics

Our precision optics department with a total of seven employees and one apprentice processes the lens blanks according to customer requirements. The special feature: our GRIN technology enables a lens effect without curvature of the optical surfaces. Our experienced team works with chip saws from the semiconductor industry and a CNC grinding machine. This means that we can currently process up to 480 lenses in parallel in one batch and in high quality. Subsequent polishing on our lever arm machines gives the optical surfaces their final finish and makes them optically transparent.

Optical Metrology

As part of the production process, we optically qualify our lenses in an extensive process. We work with four standard optical measurement methods to ensure that our products always meet the high requirements of our customers. These include

  • Video microscopy and imaging measurements
  • interferometry
  • Shack Hartman sensor (wavefront sensors)
  • Fiber optic measuring stations

Optics Assembly

In our optical assembly department, the individual components become the finished product. As the diverse applications of our lenses and lens systems each have to meet very specific requirements, eleven specialists work here in three groups: for biophotonics applications, for laser modules and for optical and fiber optic sensors. In this way, optics and optical systems for a wide range of OEM applications and requirements are produced at the highest level.
